About Truth with Data
Truth with Data answers questions people actually ask with original analysis of public data, and shows the working so you can check it.
What we do
Each article starts from a question, such as whether renting is really dead money or which jobs AI is actually replacing, and answers it with our own analysis of official statistics rather than other people's charts. We publish the data we used, the Python and R code that produces every number, and the limits of what the data can tell you. When the answer is “no clear effect” or “it depends”, we say so.
Alongside the articles we build free calculators and lookup tools. They run entirely in your browser, so what you type into them is not sent to us.
Who is behind it
Truth with Data is written and built by Vishal Sharma, based in the UK. Vishal has around a decade of experience in analytics, machine learning and R/Shiny application development in financial services and insurance. He is a PhD researcher in computer science working on multimodal AI and deepfake detection, with papers published in IEEE and Springer journals, and the author of Prompt Engineering for Production Systems.
Editorial standards
- Original analysis. Figures in our data articles come from our own analysis of named public sources, linked in each article.
- Reproducible. We publish the data and the code. Python and R versions are checked against each other.
- Uncertainty stated. We report sample sizes, confidence and p-values, and say when a result is weak, null or confounded.
- Dated. Each article shows when the data was last updated. Costs, prices and rates change, so check the date.
- Corrections. If you find an error, email truthwithdata@gmail.com. We fix it and note the correction at the end of the article.
Our articles are general information, not financial, legal or career advice for your situation.
How the site is funded
The site is free to read. It is paid for by display advertising from Google, by commissions on some affiliate links, by occasional clearly labelled sponsored articles, by our own digital products, and by data analysis and consultancy work. Advertisers, affiliates and sponsors never decide what our analysis finds. The details are on our advertising and affiliate disclosure page.
