Privacy and cookie policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what personal data truthwithdata.com collects, why, and the choices you have. Truth with Data is run by Vishal Sharma in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for this site. Contact: truthwithdata@gmail.com.
Summary
- You can read every article and use every tool without an account.
- Our calculators and lookup tools run in your browser. What you type into them is not sent to us.
- If you use the contact form we receive what you write so we can reply.
- Google shows ads on this site and uses cookies to do so. In the UK, EEA and Switzerland we ask for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time.
Data we collect
Contact form and email
When you send a message through the contact form we receive your name, email address, subject and message. The form is processed by our host, Netlify. We use this only to reply and to handle any work you ask about. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, or taking steps at your request before entering a contract. We keep enquiries for up to two years after our last exchange, unless they lead to paid work, in which case we keep business records for as long as the law requires.
Server logs
Like any website, our host Netlify automatically records technical information when pages are requested, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose problems. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest.
Tools and calculators
All calculations happen on your device. Some tools may remember your inputs in your own browser's storage so they are still there when you return. That data stays on your device and you can clear it in your browser settings.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to show adverts. Google and other third-party ad vendors use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and to other websites. Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners show you ads based on those visits.
- Your consent (UK, EEA and Switzerland). Before any advertising cookies are set, a consent message from Google's certified consent management platform asks for your choice. If you decline, Google may still show non-personalised or limited ads, which use cookies or local storage only for things like frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention.
- Change your choice. Use the Privacy and cookie settings link shown on the page, or this button:
- Personalised ads elsewhere. You can turn off personalised advertising from Google in My Ad Center, and opt out of some third-party vendors at youronlinechoices.eu or aboutads.info.
- How Google uses data. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google's advertising cookie information.
Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links. If you click one, the retailer or affiliate network may set a cookie to record that you came from our site, so that we can be paid a commission if you buy something. Their own privacy policies apply on their sites. See our disclosure page.
Other third parties that load on our pages
- Google Fonts serves our typeface. Your browser contacts Google's servers, which receive your IP address.
- cdnjs (Cloudflare) serves our icon set. Your browser contacts Cloudflare's servers, which receive your IP address.
- Netlify hosts the site and processes the contact form.
Some of these providers are based in, or transfer data to, the United States. They rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
We do not currently use analytics or tracking tools of our own. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for consent where required.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Email truthwithdata@gmail.com and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and show the date of the latest change at the top.
